The toddler environment recognizes and helps foster the very young child's desire to explore and experiment with the environment. Myriad water activities and self-care exercises assist the child's desire for mastery of his surroundings.

Because the emergence of language is so important at this stage of life, many picture and language activities help nurture the children's earliest interest in vocabulary.
