Ages: 18 months to 3 years

Time: 9:00am to noon

The toddler years are a time of tremendous growth. Children are learning to communicate, move independently, solve problems, and navigate the world around them. At Horizon Montessori School, our Toddler Program provides a nurturing environment where children ages 18 months to 3 years develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning through hands-on experiences.

Guided by Montessori principles, children are encouraged to explore, make choices, and learn at their own pace. Our teachers carefully observe each child and introduce activities that support their individual development.

The Montessori Difference

Our toddler classroom is designed for young children, with child-sized furniture, materials, and tools that encourage independence. Rather than doing tasks for children, we help them learn to do things for themselves.

Children are encouraged to:

Build independence and self-confidence

Develop language and communication skills

Strengthen concentration and coordination

Practice problem-solving

Learn respect for themselves, others, and their environment

Start toilet awareness and learning

Sample Daily Activities

No two days are the same in our classrooms – nor do we want them to be! Children work on various activities, including but not limited to:

  • Pouring, sorting, matching, and puzzles
  • Art, painting, and creative expression
  • Story time, music, and movement
  • Snack and self-care routines
  • Outdoor exploration and gross motor play
  • Practical life activities such as cleaning and caring for the classroom
  • Water play
