We offer complete summer Montessori programs for toddlers and 3-to 6-year-olds. Read more about the individual programs below.
For the Toddlers (1.5-3 years)
Our summer Toddler program extends for several weeks during the summer, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day (Monday through Friday). You may choose any or all weeks of the program.
We will work outdoors as often as the sun shines, and make full use of our play area for water activities, gardening, picnics, games of all varieties, and the exploration of nature. We’re planning on fun with sprinkler activities, outdoor water tubs, water balloons, painting on plain sheets, a sand box, popsicle stick art, clay modeling, and visits from various docents.
The weekly cost for the summer program is $150 per week. This class will be limited, and we will give preference to those children currently enrolled at Horizon.

For the 3-to 6-year olds
Our summer program for 3- to 6-year-olds extends for several weeks during the summer, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon each day (Monday through Friday). You may choose any or all weeks of the program.
We offer a full Montessori curriculum, plus the following activities:
- Outdoor work as often as the sun shines, making full use of our playground for relay races, ball games and more
- Arts and crafts using our indoor and outdoor environments for activity and inspiration in various art media
- Recipes for fun baking and cooking, geared to children’s abilities and tastes
- Visits from our neighborhood police and fire stations
- Lessons from a Nature Center at Shaker Lakes docent, helping us explore “Incredible Insects” and other fun themes
- Dalcroze eurhythmics in the gym
